Tariffs on goods from China

Tariffs on goods coming in from China will drastically affect the textile industry. Are manufacturers planning to move production to other countries? Will retailers accept inevitable price hikes? Will consumers finally understand how tariffs work or simply reduce spending drastically. Any possibility that some manufacturers will try to do cut and sew domestically? It seems that no matter what direction we go, apparel and home furnishings products will be more costly.

I wouldn’t mind tariffs on Chinese Fast Fashion like Shein & Temu. Similarly, I wouldn’t mind tariffs on the factories that use Uighur slave labor.

Good point. Sadly, though, it’s not likely that these will be targeted to specific cases.

There are currently no “tariffs” on Shein + Temu, because they ship directly to consumers in under $800 per package, not likely to change as congress can’t seem to pass a law to close the loophole :frowning:

I’ve heard talk of the US removing the di minimis rule ($800 p/package) to target Chinese direct shippers.
