I meant to put a message here when the layoff was happening. Employees were told in October that the company would be sold to one of the factories they use so the writing was on the wall. Their “new model” seems to be that that they’re not going to design anything original anymore. They’re going to see what’s in the market and have the factories develop cheap copies, basically what SHEIN is known for. Rumors beforehand were 30-50% of the work force would be eliminated. On 12/4 everyone was brought in for a meeting and told the affected people would receive an email later in the day. They were told every department would have layoffs. The usual blather followed about how it would allow the company to grow. HR is being cagey with the total number of employees let go but it’s significant.
